One of the most important tools for the determination of fishery health, stability, and fish population balance is our complete survey. A survey should be performed at least every year for those wishing to raise trophy fish or have a specific goal in mind. These surveys are also performed when there is little known about the existing population of fish in a newly acquired or neglected fishery. A complete survey includes the following services:
Sampling of fish using electroshocking techniques. We use the most advanced equipment available to stun fish, enabling safe and efficient means of capture. Fish are kept in a livewell until weighed, measured, inspected for diseases, etc. "Trash Fish" like mudcats, gar, carp, etc are removed upon request from the landowner, and other fish are returned to the water unharmed. This sampling technique is best for attaining largemouth bass, bluegill, shad, tilapia, redear, and any other fish that occupy shoreline (shallow) habitat. The method is often not effective at collecting benthic (bottom) dwellers like catfish or other deep water fish like crappie.
Complete Water Quality Testing. We test water for dissolved oxygen, pH, alkalinity, hardness, and visibility/turbidity.
Complete Aquatic Vegetation Documentation. We sample and document every specie of aquatic vegetation in the water body, for this is one of the most important elements determining the function of the aquatic ecosystem.
Complete Report, summarizing the results of the survey. This report includes the following information:
*Tabulated Data from the Fish Sampling, list of fish sampled, and brief description of their roles in the ecosystem
*Relative Weight Indices for all sport fish sampled, which will give you an idea of the state of health of these fish
*Proportional Size Distribution of Largemouth Bass and Sunfish species, to gain perspective on population balance
*List of species of aquatic vegetation, and brief description of their respective roles in the ecosystem
*Management recommendations encompassing fish stocking, fertilizing, liming, clearing, aeration system design and install, harvest regulations, aquatic vegetation management, and any other managment actions to address specific needs.
*Proposal to perform the management recommendations.
Pricing
The cost of a survey depends on size of water body and traveling distance. Remember, we service a very broad area of the state, and we keep our prices competitive with any other lake managment company.
